Meet Dorcas Macauley, a previous resident of Sarah’s... an Oasis for Women.

Dorcas first came to the United States in 2013 from Liberia, West Africa and was staying with extended family members, oftentimes sleeping on the floor of living rooms or on a couch that could be spared.

Selamawit came to the United States from Eritrea with her fiancé. When the abuse started, she had nowhere else to go and no family to help her. While riding the bus a woman asked her if she was ok and Selamawit broke down, telling her that she felt hopeless and had no options.
