About Learning In Style

A Tradition of Respect and Empowerment

At Learning in Style we help people develop the capabilities they need for successful independence as part of a new community.

We develop skills through our teachers, all of whom are professionals with bachelor’s or advanced degrees, our comprehensive curriculum, and our small class sizes.
We center our approach on respect for each person’s strengths as well as dignity for learners adapting to a new language and environment. We also extend and energize our teaching by using community volunteers to lead small groups, tutor individuals, and build even more connections for our adult students to the broader community.

In common with other Accola programs, Learning in Style builds strong communities by helping each person reach their individual potential by connecting them to skills, services, and to one another.

Our dedicated volunteers and staff create a warm environment that honors the resilience of each person who walks through our doors. Providing these tangible skills is a profound act of care that extends outward to strengthen the entire region.

Free Childcare
Support for your family

We have limited free childcare while you take your classes. This is for children who are old enough to walk and stand independently. Please call the school to know if there is space before coming to register early so we can save a spot for your child.

Child Care Requirements

Children who attend child care at Learning in Style School must meet all Minnesota child care immunization requirements. Parents or guardians must provide a copy of their child’s current vaccination record before the child can begin attending the program.

Required immunizations vary by age and are established by the State of Minnesota. For current requirements, please visit the Minnesota Department of Health Immunization Program.

Additional Child Care Requirements

Parents or guardians may not leave the school while their child is attending child care.

Children must be able to stand independently so they can safely participate in daily activities.

Community Support
Standing Together

Over the past two years, wonderful community partners. Cretin Derham Hall, the Blake School, the Minikahda Club, and One Warm Coat have provided hundreds of winter coats to LIS students and their families. University of St. Thomas has social work and law students work with LIS students. The Waldarf School (and others) delivered groceries, household goods, and rent relief.
